PTSA Teacher Mini-Grants

by Amy Christiansen, PTSA Mini-Grants Chair

The Teacher Mini-Grant process has begun! Each school year, the PTSA budget includes funds for Teacher Mini-Grants. These mini-grants serve to provide teachers with vital items for enhancing students’ learning environments and curriculum above and beyond the constraints of school and district budgets.

And it’s done with a simple process. No lengthy grant writing to do by our teachers. Department heads simply meet with their fellow teachers and decide their lists of priorities to submit to the PTSA Board for review. It is with pleasure that the PTSA gets to fulfill wishlist items for every department in our school. Here is a sampling of what was funded through these mini-grants for the 2019-2020 school year:

  • Quizlet, Zipgrade, and Quia subscriptions, DBQ Binders, and TeachersPayTeachers gift cards.
  • Giant size molecular models, molecular orbit models, human physiology vernier, and a Sensor EKG GO Direct.
  • World language dictionaries and journals, DVD players, electric guitars, and amplifiers.
  • Micro palm carving sets flex cut carving tools, silk wooden handle screen squeegees, spring clamps, flip chart paper, and a laminator.
  • A Swift comparison microscope, garment racks with hangars, a plasma cutter, and a universal control, as well as a Schwinn IC Pro Classic Bike.

Teacher Mini-Grants for the 2020-2021 school year will begin to be funded soon. We are so excited to see what the PTSA can do for our teachers, and ultimately our students, this school year through this process.
